Introduction

KlasAuditory processing difficulties can influence the development of speech and language (reading and spelling). This can result in difficulties with speaking and understanding of language. Finally this can lead to learning and behavioural problems.

Often things that are heard cannot be processed effectively. Therefore it is often difficult to concentrate on a teachers voice in a classroom, because other sounds in clOorassroom can divert attention from instruction. A lot of what is explained will get lost. It is difficult to remember several instructions and to carry them out. This influences the quality of work and it will take extra time.

Comments from the teacher like “didn’t you hear it again?” or “you again don’t listen to me”, can be frustrated. Especially when you try to do your utmost to follow everything.
